An Analysis of Thyroid Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy Results According to the Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology: A Cross-Sectional Retrospective Study

Background/Aims: Thyroid fine needle aspiration biopsy (TFNAB) is an effective and convenient evaluation method. It the gold standard in preoperative evaluation. The Bethesda System for Reporting Cytopathology a standardized system that has been widely used all over world. In this study, we aimed to investigate compatibility of TFNAB results, which evaluated according Cytopathology.
 Methods: data 333(236 female, 97 male) patients, who underwent between January 2020 2022, were collected retrospectively. Their categories, ages, gender characteristics recorded.
 Results: mean age 333 patients included study was 46.46 ± 14.53 female 50.19 10.06 male patients. When examined, Nondiagnostic (B1), Benign (B2)were most common cytologies. While benign cytology observed at earlier age, suspicion malignancy or incidence malignant increased as increased.
 Conclusion: accepted reliable benchmark around world phase cytopathological examination. examined results thyroid FNAB our center Cytopathology. terms diagnostic cytology, recommend aultrasonography-guided performed by experienced clinician.
